Old Glory Antiques Show 2013

I have always wanted to attend The Farm Chicks Antiques Show in Spokane, WA but I haven't had a chance so far. Well, this year, I found a local event in Denver, Colorado which drew the attention of some of my favorite magazine editors from Folk and Flea Market Style. So, even though I was just home the night before from a week vacation in Mexico, I woke up early, dragged my favorite cousin along and made the hour long trip to check it out.

I was really impressed and found a few treasures to bring home with me. Below are a few snapshots from the Old Glory Antiques Show (held on Flag Day). It was really a fun event and I will definitely attend next year. Now...what to do with rustic open frame that inspired numerous compliments as I carried it through the various booths? (I'll show you the frame in a separate post... stay tuned.

The Lamb

John 1:29
On the morrow he seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God, that taketh away the sin of the world! Happy Easter!

Magnify the LORD!

Emotions are part of life. We know sadness and tears are sometimes the most appropriate response to a situation. But when our hearts are heavy, I am drawn even more to the side of my Lord, to draw upon His strength and to rekindle hope. To magnify Him (and his Glory) brings me comfort. One of my life scriptures is Psalm 22:3, because the Lord himself can be found in the mist of praise.  And what can be more comforting then the Lord coming alongside you when you call on His wonderful name, JESUS!
But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

Jehovah is my strength and my shield; My heart hath trusted in him, and I am helped: Therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; And with my song will I praise him.

Oh magnify Jehovah with me, And let us exalt his name together.

Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; Let thy glory be above all the earth.

Thou art my God, and I will give thanks unto thee: Thou art my God, I will exalt thee.

In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.

This post is dedicated to the memory of a lovely Christian friend who crossed over into eternity in a moment earlier this week and also to my beloved Aunt who is struggling to stay in this world to be with her family who loves her dearly.

A Sign of Good Taste

Growing up in the 80's was a blast! I was recently reminded of my fondness for all things Coca Cola while visiting a Fall Festival in my area. When I was in high school, a Coco Cola line of clothing was fairly, although briefly, popular. I had two jerseys; the red and white one was my favorite, a nifty canvas purse and I even purchased two infant outfits that I set aside for my Hope Chest.

While making my way through the antique booths, arranged among the trailers of pumpkins and corn husks, I found two lovely RED items that I would like to have purchased. The Coca Cola sign is just AMAZING and would look spectacular in my living room! The large read "milk" jug almost came home with me... Maybe next year, huh?

A Fall Finish - Quilt and Blue Enamelware

I finally finished the Amy Butler quilt that I started earlier this year. I'm happy to have this one complete and I thought this would be a nice opportunity to take some snapshots of a small blue piece of enamelware too. Very "Fall" if you ask me. You can read more about the quilt here and here.
